My Last ICT Lesson

Today is officially our last ICT lesson. However it's not the end of an era, in my opinion, it's the beginning. I always considered myself as an non technically minded being - I can honestly say that this personal view of myself has changed. This module enhanced and encouraged me to develop confidence and knowledge that I severely lacked. The foundations has been put into place for further advancement in the world of ICT. The world around us is changing at great speed and as a result the teaching environment is vastly adapting to new circumstances. ICT is a vital component now incorporated into everyday teaching, therefore is a compulsory element for all teaching staff to grasp.

We completed our presentations today. They involved using the 'smart notebook' program to create a lesson for a particular age group. I focused on 'bullying' for KS1. I presented it to two other students in my class and explained how I would teach using each slide. After my presentation was completed my peers assessed my final product while I reflected on my lesson. Overall my feedback was very positive with a few constructive criticism. They stated that it was visually appealing, well structured and very interactive. I then got to analyse their creations and comment on different aspects. This is definitely a worth while process because we learn new material while assessing and we experience different ideas that we can annotate in a variety of ways for our own lessons.

In conclusion, I enjoyed our brief time in ICT and found it extremely helpful for pursuing amazing teaching ideas. The variations of software and programs out there that I had no idea about is now stored safely in my mind. I look forward to grabbing children's attention and intriguing their interests through the support of ICT.

Farewell for now fellow bloggers.
